Going to try my first blog. Don't tell my buddies I'm doing a blog, they might disavow all knowledge of me.

Yesterday was the first match of 2022 at Smithmoor Range. Interest has blown up in these parts. Cody had 44 people wanting to come shoot and he had to turn away 14 of them as he only has accomdations for 30. Our nearest town is Cheyenne at about 30 miles, Denver is a good 2 hours away. There's just nobody out here but that doesn't deter people from coming. Smithmoor charges nothing to shoot and provides a home made hot lunch and it's always good.

Last years national scope champion was there and he shot a  36. You need to know Cole is a teen age boy from about 80 miles north of here. Then Dan shot a 35. He drove up from the Denver metro area and has made good strides in his shooting. I'm jealous.

Of the 30 shooters 17 shot scores of 30 points or better. Reread that if you need to, but think about how a strong a field that is. Cody and Coralee sacrificed their shooting positions so others could shoot and it's most likely they would have shot 30 plus points as well. I can't help but think that a perfect score is on the horizon, and I can only dream it's me that gets it!

My daughter and son in law came up and did well too. Plus I was lucky to have a neighbor join us and he did exceptional. First match of this venue, and he shot my gun that he had never even handled. The set trigger stole some points from  him but he turned in a 27! I have days that I'm glad to hit 27.

It's my good fortune to live close by Smithmoor Range. I've dreamt of this game for as long as I can remember and it's right here in my back yard. I'm lucky and it's for that reason that Wyoming Sight Drifter does what it can to help support these matches. Hope you all have a great New Year!
